Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer JS KONGO (DDG-173) departed Pearl Harbor to participate in the at-sea phase of Exercise RIMPAC 2026. The exercise provides participating forces with opportunities to enhance interoperability, improve tactical proficiency, and strengthen cooperation through multinational maritime operations. RIMPAC 2026 brings together forces from more than 30 nations, with over 30 surface ships, five submarines, more than 150 aircraft, land forces and approximately 30,000 personnel, promoting interoperability and maritime security throughout the Indo-Pacific.
