A Forest Service law enforcement officer conducts a field investigation on the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, July 4, 2026. Law enforcement personnel and special agents from across the country deployed to the basin for the holiday weekend to support Fourth of July celebration activities that attracted more than 327,000 visitors. Thirty-one officers reported for duty to monitor beaches and campgrounds across the area and to assist state and county law enforcement partner agencies in responding to emergencies and directing traffic.
