Eric Meyer, project engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, documents observations and prepares inspection notes while conducting a dewatered spillway inspection at Canton Lake near Canton, Oklahoma, July 8, 2026.
Dewatering the spillway allows engineers to closely inspect concrete surfaces that are normally underwater for cracks, deterioration and other imperfections. These routine inspections are part of the Tulsa District Dam and Levee Safety Program and help ensure critical infrastructure continues to operate safely and reliably while supporting flood risk management.
