U.S. Navy Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class Dalton Johnson, assigned to Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53), mans a M2A1 .50-caliber heavy machine gun as part of a Small Craft Attack Team (SCAT) exercise, July 2, 2026. John Paul Jones is currently deployed in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operation conducting routine operations. An integral part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. 3rd Fleet leads naval forces in the region and provides the realistic, relevant training necessary to execute the U.S. Navy’s role across the full spectrum of military operations – from combat operations to humanitarian assistance and disaster response.
