Nordhaus, and acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche addressed National Guardsmen currently assigned to the DC Safe and Beautiful Mission to thank them for their service and commitment ahead of Independence Day at Meridian Hill Park in Washington, D.C., July 2, 2026. About 4,500 National Guard members are supporting the mission, providing critical assistance to the Metropolitan Police Department to help ensure the safety of residents, commuters and visitors throughout the District.
