U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Daniel Castillo, an indirect fire infantryman with 1st Battalion, 35th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, left, and U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division both assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, give feedback after the off-road portion of an Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) licensing course near Jamul, Calif., June 30, 2026. The course provides an opportunity for service members to be licensed to operate ISVs to utilize for the southern border mission. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
