On June 29, 2026, AFLCMC commander Lt Gen Donna Shipton presided over a short ceremony at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio to mark the burial of a time capsule that will be opened in 25 years.
Reflecting on the legacy and work of Airmen that supplied contents for the time capsule’s original burial in 1999, Shipton drew a line from the work that today’s Center staff will have on the future.
“It behooves us to continue to do the great work of the Center so that we can ensure [future Airmen] have what they need to deter a potential conflict in the future," Shipton explained.
The capsule is located at the entrance to building 14, AFLCMC headquarters, on area B at Wright-Patt.
