A cargo pallet is offloaded from a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster IIIs carrying members of the 621st Contingency Response Wing, on the apron of Simón Bolívar International Airport, Venezuela, June 28, 2026. At the direction of U.S. Southern Command, assigned US military forces are supporting Department of State-led U.S. disaster assistance to the people of Venezuela in the aftermath of the June 24, 2026, earthquakes. The 621st CRW mobilized a contingency response element to provide rapidly deployable air mobilities capabilities to assess, open, operate, and sustain airfields during contingency, humanitarian assistance, and disaster-response operations.
