An M1A2 Abrams main battle tank fires its 120mm M256 smooth bore cannon during a crew familiarization exercise at Camp Orchard, Idaho, June 25, 2026, sending a fireball and heat wave down range. The 204th Regional Training Institute conducted the event to give students from the Armor Crewman course hands-on experience with the M1A2 weapons system. The M1A2 is capable of engaging, armored vehicles, personnel, and low-flying aircraft with a variety of 120mm munitions. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Rusty Rehl)
