    Federal, state, local and industry leaders celebrate the completion of the Brazos Island Harbor Channel Improvement Project during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Port of Brownsville, Texas, June 25, 2026. The project deepened the Brownsville Ship Channel by 10 feet, improving navigation for larger vessels, increasing cargo capacity and strengthening South Texas' role in international trade and energy exports.
