U.S. Marines with Company X, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, and U.S. Border Patrol agents participate in a horsemanship course to build joint operational readiness near El Centro, California, May 21, 2026. This training provided Marines and Border Patrol agents an opportunity to strengthen interagency partnerships while conducting mounted operations in a controlled environment. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
