U.S. Marines with 9th Communication Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group and Navy Sailors assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Chafee (DDG 90) got a mountaintop overview of the Colombia River Gorge while on a scenic tour during Portland Fleet Week at the Portland Rose Festival in Portland, Oregon, June 4, 2026. PFW, the U.S. Navy’s longest-running fleet week at 119 years, has been part of the city’s annual Rose Festival for 80 years. PFW, like fleet weeks in cities throughout the U.S., showcases maritime capabilities and connects local citizens with Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsman. Participating service members enjoy local hospitality, support various community service events, and participate in annual festivities, which this year will occur across Portland alongside celebrations of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
