GROTON, Conn. (June 5, 2026) — United States Navy Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CWO4) Steven Hurt is promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5 (CWO5) during a ceremony held onboard the Virginia-class fast-attack submarine USS Delaware (SSN 791).
During the ceremony, CWO5 Scott Ouellette administered the oath of office to CWO5 Hurt as his wife, Jennifer Hurt, held the Bible. Following the oath, CWO4 James Hansel and CWO4 Manny Bitor performed the traditional wet-down ceremony of Hurt's new CWO5 shoulder boards.
Commander Jason Hinkley, Director of Limited Duty Officer/ Chief Warrant Officer (LDO/CWO) Academy, read the History of the Warrant Officer as well as the History of Naval Submarine Base New London and the Submarine Force, highlighting the deep heritage of the submarine community and the critical role of technical leaders.
