Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Gavin Jackson inserts a laryngoscope on a patient simulator during medical training for Hospital Corpsman reservists in the simulation center at Naval Medical Center San Diego, June 16, 2026. The training, known as "Train the Warrior," is designed to bridge the gap for reservists who do not work in the medical field on a daily basis, helping them maintain clinical proficiency and support Navy Medicine's strategic priority to deliver and sustain whole ready naval medical forces. The mission of NMCSD is to optimize health and enhance readiness. NMCSD employs more than 5,500 active-duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in southern California to deliver exceptional care afloat and ashore.
