    U.S. Army Col. Max W. Furman Jr. participates in a promotion ceremony at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, June 11, 2026. Furman, who serves as commander of the 166th Regiment – Regional Training Institute and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Counterdrug Coordinator, was promoted from lieutenant colonel to colonel during a ceremony presided over by Maj. Gen. Michael Wegscheider, deputy adjutant general - Army, Pennsylvania National Guard. Furman's spouse and children participated in the ceremony, including the pinning of his new rank.
