Benavidez played a pivotal role in USTRANSCOM’s exercise TRANSMARINER 26 at the Port of Ponce, Puerto Rico, as part of exercise Turbo Distribution. With expert oversight from 597th Transportation Brigade, ARTRANS, "Rapid Support" Surface Warriors, the vessel’s Ready Reserve crew transported critical cargo to the Port of Gulfport, Mississippi, where equipment and supplies were discharged to support waiting Forces. Additional cargo was re-assigned/loaded for onward movement to the Newport News Marine Terminal (NNMT)- the designated break-bulk and roll-on/roll-off (Ro/Ro) facility for the Port of Virginia. These continuing missions highlight the MV Roy P. Benavidez’s essential role in strategic sealift operations, directly supporting U.S. Transportation Command’s ability to rapidly project and sustain military forces worldwide.
