Teams from the 249th Engineer Battalion (Prime Power), Bravo Company completed a Circuit Breaker Relay Maintenance (CBRM) testing mission at Smithland Locks & Dam in Brookport, Illinois, May 28, 2026.
The team is supporting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District by testing and validating critical electrical infrastructure necessary for the safe and reliable operation of locks and dams along the Ohio in Illinois and Indiana, as well as the Green River in Kentucky.
More than 415 million tons of cargo pass through the Louisville District's locks and dams on the Ohio River annually. By ensuring critical electrical systems continue operating safely and efficiently, Prime Power soldiers help maintain the operational readiness of infrastructure that keeps the Nation’s economy strong and that millions of Americans rely on every day.
