U.S. Navy Adm. Frank M. Bradley, commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, takes part in a commemorative visit to Omaha Beach in Normandy, France, June 5, 2026. After previously visiting the Naval Combat Demolition Unit and Scouts & Raiders Monument Park as part of the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day, Bradley joined fellow SEALs at Omaha Beach, retracing the route Allied forces took from sea to shore during Operation Overlord. Omaha was one of five landing beaches during Operation Overlord and featured some of the fiercest fighting on D-Day as Allied forces began the liberation of France. The Allied invasion of Normandy remains one of the largest multinational amphibious assaults and airborne operations in history and was a turning point marking the beginning of the end of WWII in Europe.
