U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 29th Infantry Division support a ceremony honoring the 90th Infantry Division June 5, 2026, in Plessis-Lastelle, France. The ceremony paid tribute to the Soldiers of the 90th Infantry Division, known as the “Tough ’Ombres,” who fought and died during the capture of Mont Castre and the village of Plessis-Lastelle in early July 1944. Their sacrifice in Normandy, remembered through the division’s enduring phrase “one more hill,” reflects the grit and determination required to liberate the region. More than 600 U.S. service members, including 30 assigned to the 29th ID, are in Normandy to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day landings.
