ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Naval History and Heritage Command Director, Rear Admiral Samuel J. Cox, U.S. Navy (retired), speaks to guests at a lecture titled “Operation Tiger and Neptune: D-Day at Sea,” at the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum, in Old Town Alexandria, June 4, 2026. The event, hosted by the City of Alexandria, in partnership with the Alexandria–Caen Sister City Committee, explored the strategic, historic, and human aspect of D-Day and the Allied campaign of Normandy. This marks the 16th annual D-Day Commemoration held by the city and it featured a formal ceremony, historical exhibits, live big band music and swing dancing, and special lecture.
