Two Advanced Integrated Mobile Machine Shop (AIMMS) units sit side-by-side in their mobile containers. Recently fielded to the U.S. Marine Corps as part of a field user evaluation, the AIMMS platform provides Marines with a deployable manufacturing capability designed to support expeditionary maintenance and repair operations. Developed with support from engineers in Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division’s Advanced Manufacturing Branch, the system combines traditional machining, welding, 3D scanning, and advanced manufacturing technologies into a single mobile platform capable of fabricating and repairing components closer to the point of need.
