The U.S. Army Golden Knights conducted a commemorative parachute jump near La Fiere bridge at the Iron Mike Drop Zone during D-Day 82 in Sainte Mere Eglise, France, June 7, 2026. The Allied invasion of Normandy occurred in the early hours of June 6, 1944, with paratroopers landing across the flooded fields around Sainte-Mère-Église, the first town liberated from German control. La Fiere bridge was a critical crossing point for Allied personnel and vehicles.
The Golden Knights, the Army’s official aerial demonstration and competition parachute team, jumped over the same ground during the ceremony.
