On the 5th of June 2026, the 68th Theater Medical Command conducted their 2nd Annual Pioneer Challenge. This was a day of remembrance and to build Esprit de Corps amongst all. The challenge was designed to put the team to the test both physically and mentally and to determine the best Iron Pioneer among the Officers, NCOs, and Junior Enlisted. The team completed the events with great dedication, spirit, and strength. The day started with opening comments from P7 and P6 as the unit were reminded of “why?” the day was so special. After some stretching and instructions, the competition started with great excitement.
The following events made up the Pioneer Challenge: Run, with push-ups, rower and side-straddle hops injected through out. Next, was the Ruck March w/ 25 lbs rucksack. Then, came the 251 meter Sprint in honor of the Army's 251st birthday. To finish the challenge, the 68th put their minds to work with a written test.
The entire day was filled with Esprit de Corps, teamwork, and honor. Congratulations to all the participants and to those that coordinated and supported the event. It was a truly special day in recognition of the Army’s 251th Birthday and the remembrance of the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day. (U.S. Army photos by Sgt. 1st Class Eric Johnson)
