California Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 40th Infantry Division conduct tactical movement aboard a Landing Craft, Air Cushion, from Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, to San Clemente Island, June 4, 2026, during Annual Training 26. The movement, documented from a UH-72 Lakota helicopter, strengthened the division’s ability to coordinate air, land and maritime operations while building readiness for state and federal missions.
The operation showcased the division’s ability to move Soldiers and equipment across multiple domains while working alongside Navy and Marine Corps partners. From aerial observation to maritime transport and ground movement, the training reinforced the coordination, communication and adaptability required to support missions across California and beyond.
