U.S. Army 1st Sgt. The tournament featured a team of U.S. Soldiers with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, soldiers with the Franco-German Brigade, and coaches from a local Saint-Hilaire club. Friendly athletic events are one way U.S. service members who are taking part in D-Day 82 commemorations can connect on a personal level with the French community and continue to build on the foundation of shared values and vision going back 250 years. From June 2-7, 2026, more than 600 U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Guardians and Airmen from roughly 17 units historically linked to D-Day made up Joint Task Force 82 and participated in over 90 commemorative events throughout the Normandy Region.
