    Naval Station Rota, Spain

Spanish contractor Isaac Villalba Bergalo operates a drill while conducting renovations on a basketball court in unaccompanied housing onboard Naval Station (NAVSTA) Rota, Spain, June 2, 2026. The renovation is part of Commander, Navy Installations Command's "Sailors First" initiative funded by the One Big Beautiful Bill through the Department of War's Barracks Task Force. As the "Gateway to the Mediterranean,” Naval Station (NAVSTA) Rota provides U.S., NATO, and allied forces a strategic hub for operations wherever and whenever they are needed. NAVSTA Rota is a force multiplier, capable of promptly deploying and sustaining combat-ready forces through land, air, and sea, supporting warfighters and their families, and fostering the U.S. and Spanish relationship.
