The historic walk through Amfreville was part of D-Day 82 commemoration activities meant to provide participating units with historical background on World War II in Normandy. The 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II, participated in D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge, landing in Normandy on June 6, 1944, with their drop zone located near Amfreville.
