A U.S. Air Force C-130J Hercules from Dyess AFB, Texas taxis on the flightline prior to the start of D-Day 82 at Cherbourg, France, May 31, 2026. The French-led commemorative event invited local and regional officials, service members from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps and service members from Allied nations joined to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who served in D-Day, Operation Overlord. The best way we can honor the veterans of D-Day isn’t just with words, but by deed in maintaining high standards of discipline, readiness, and duty that uphold their legacy.
