Staff Sgt. Williams was recognized for his decisive actions while off duty, when he rendered life-saving aid to a fellow Marine who suffered a catastrophic leg injury, applying a tourniquet and coordinating an emergency medical response that directly prevented the Marine’s death. The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal is awarded to service members who distinguish themselves by heroism, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service, reflecting exceptional dedication and performance in the line of duty.
