The Fort Campbell Soldier Recovery Unit held its annual Eagle Warrior Memorial Garden Rededication Ceremony on May 20, honoring SRU Soldiers who have passed while assigned to the unit since 2009.
The ceremony featured guest speaker Ms. Amy Kost-Hawk, a Wounded Warrior Advocate with the SRU since 2009 who later served as a Recovery Care Coordinator at Fort Riley, Kansas. During the ceremony, she reflected on the Soldiers she has supported throughout her career and the lasting impact they continue to have on her life.
Attendees also observed a laying of roses and the laying of the wreath, honoring the lives, service, and sacrifices of the Soldiers memorialized within the garden.
Due to weather, this year’s ceremony was held inside the Soldier Recovery Unit building, where Soldiers, staff, families, and community members gathered in remembrance of those no longer with us.
The Eagle Warrior Memorial Garden remains a quiet and meaningful place for surviving family members, friends, Soldiers, and civilians to reflect, remember, and heal. While these Soldiers may be gone, they are never forgotten.
