A U.S. Air Force pilot for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, assigned to the 51st Fighter Wing from Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, gives their unit’s heritage hand sign on the flightline at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, June 1, 2026. The sign represents unit heritage before a sortie. Aircraft from the 51st FW are participating in RED FLAG Alaska 26-2, an exercise that integrates various forces into a realistic threat environment using the approximately 120,000 square miles of airspace in the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex which is the largest combat training range in the world.
