The Adventure begins for hopefuls entering Phase I of the Officer Candidate School OCS program. Under the guidance of the 1st Battalion – 175th Regiment, Regional Training Institute RTI, these candidates are being encouraged during “The First 100 Yards” event on the Camp Ripley Training Center May. 31, 2026.
The First 100 Yards is more than a physical challenge; it is a leadership laboratory. By placing candidates in demanding situations that require teamwork, communication, and perseverance, OCS cadre begin the process of developing adaptive, resilient leaders prepared to lead Soldiers in complex environments. The event serves as a powerful reminder that the journey to becoming an Army officer begins not with individual achievement, but with commitment to the team and the mission.
