Soldiers of the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade maintain, load and launch AH-64E helicopters during an Apache Initiative engagement. Key leaders in attack aviation from the United States, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Australia are actively participating in the Polish Apache Initiative (PAI) to synchronize capabilities across four main lines of effort: organizing, training, fighting, and sustaining.

The PAI builds upon the groundwork laid during the first European Apache Initiative summit held in October 2023 at U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach, which familiarized allied forces with attack aviation tactics and resources. Subsequent PAI summits were held in Wroclaw, Poland, in August 2024, and at Katzenbach Army Airfield, Germany, in January 2025. These multinational interoperability efforts are critical as Poland transitions to become the second-largest operator of Apaches globally—second only to the U.S.—following its strategic purchase of 96 advanced AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters.
