U.S. Army Corps of Engineers North Atlantic Division Commander Col. Jesse Curry tours waterfront facilities at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard, Curtis Bay, Md., May 26, 2026, alongside USACE Baltimore District and Yard leadership. USACE Baltimore District has issued a solicitation for the Coast Guard Yard Waterfront Optimization project — a competitive, Firm-Fixed-Price, Design-Build to Budget contract expected to reach completion by 2029. The project will modernize pier and dry-dock infrastructure to accommodate the greater water depths required by incoming Offshore Patrol Cutters and National Security Cutters anticipated to arrive at the Yard beginning in 2030. The Coast Guard Yard, established in 1899, is the U.S. Coast Guard's sole shipbuilding and major repair facility. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Jeremy Todd)
