Barney South, a force reconnaissance Marine with 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company, 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, fires an M4 carbine while conducting a live-fire range in La Cavalerie, France, April 2, 2026. South fired the carbine during a bilateral training live-fire range. The purpose of the training is to increase interoperability, lethality, and camaraderie amongst U.S. and French forces.
