U.S. Army Sgt. Sarah Beckstrom is recognized during the National Police Week Memorial Ceremony at the U.S. Marshals Service Headquarters in Arlington, Va., May 12, 2026. Beckstrom, who succumbed to injuries sustained while on patrol supporting the DC Safe and Beautiful mission, was honored alongside other fallen law enforcement officers. Approximately 2,500 National Guard members support the DC Safe and Beautiful mission, providing critical assistance to the Metropolitan Police Department and community partners to enhance safety and quality of life throughout the District.
