James W. Trimble Lock and Dam, also known as Lock and Dam No. 13, continues to support commercial navigation, recreation and commerce more than 50 years after its completion in 1969. Located near Van Buren, Arkansas, the lock and dam serves as the first lock within Arkansas on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System as the river flows downstream toward the Mississippi River. Stretching 445 miles from the Mississippi River to the Port of Catoosa near Tulsa, Oklahoma, the MKARNS supports an average of approximately 11.3 million tons of commercial cargo annually and remains a critical transportation corridor supporting national commerce and industries across an 18-state region.
