U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. AJ Anderson, an automotive maintenance technician with Combat Logistics Battalion 7, 1st Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), operates a Skydio small unmanned aerial system (sUAS) during a training exercise at the southern border in Nogales, Ariz., April 29, 2026. Operating near the barrier allows Marines to integrate sUAS training into a real-world environment, adding critical aerial capabilities to JTF-SB. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
