Moncks Corner, SC (April 15, 2026) Southern Lightning, created in partnership between NIWC Atlantic and NSWC Crane, is a critical collaborative experimentation ecosystem designed to mature and transition next-generation warfighting technologies. This recurring live event addresses the urgent need to advance Electronic Warfare and Resilient Communication systems on unmanned platforms for contested maritime environments. This weeklong experimentation featured a multitude of unmanned surface vessels, advanced communication systems, and partners from the South Carolina National Guard with AH-64 Apache helicopters, all working to rapidly mature and prove technologies for warfighter use. This ongoing initiative continues to accelerate the transition of cutting-edge deception, electronic attack, and resilient communications solutions to key partners such as PAE RAS, PAE Mission Systems, NAVSEA PMS-420, and PMW-170.
