For nearly two decades, the Soldier Recovery Unit stood as a testament to the Army’s unwavering commitment to care for its wounded, ill, and injured.
Established in 2007 as the Warrior Transition Battalion and re-designated as the Soldier Recovery Unit in 2020, this unit has guided more than 6,000 Soldiers through recovery—empowering them to return to duty or transition honorably into civilian life.
As the unit approaches its inactivation in 2027, we pause to recognize the profound impact it has made. Its legacy lives on in the lives saved, the Families supported, and the promise upheld to never leave a fallen comrade.
Today, May 1, 2026, we dedicate this moment in enduring gratitude to the Soldiers, Cadre, and Civilians who gave their time, compassion, and expertise to those who served.
Thank you for 20 years of unwavering support, sacrifice, and care.
