Marking the 81st anniversary of the Battle of Monte Casale, representatives from U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF‑AF), the 173rd Airborne Brigade, Italian Army partners, and community dignitaries gathered for a commemoration ceremony in Ponti sul Mincio, Italy, May 1, 2026. The battle took place April 30, 1945, and is recognized as the last battle fought on Italian soil during World War II. U.S. Army Pfc.
