The one-meter Ritchey–Chrétien telescope, inside the Astronomical Research Group and Observatory, is highlighted during a tour at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, April 20, 2026. Space Base Delta 1 Commander Col. Kenneth Klock hosted the Spring Hydra Conference, bringing together military and civilian leaders to strengthen warfighter readiness across the force. Participants began with a personality-based assessment to enhance communication, teamwork, and leadership effectiveness. The group then toured areas of the United States Air Force Academy, where cadets showcased the FalconSAT laboratory, observatory, and the Space Physics and Atmospheric Research Center, highlighting the Academy’s growing emphasis on space and technology education critical to future conflict. To close out the conference, military leaders got back to the basics of military readiness, testing themselves in combative training, land navigation, and leadership reaction exercises.
