A demolition worker uses an excavator with a shear attachment to remove part of the metal structure from the Munitions Demilitarization Building (MDB) filter banks at the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant. The filter banks housed carbon and HEPA filters used to clean the air from the MDB during operations and initial closure activities. The last munition in the U.S. chemical weapons stockpile was destroyed in July 2023. The demolition phase is expected to be complete in 2027.
