Service members assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border participate in the second day of Air Assault training to build the physical and technical proficiency required for vertical insertion missions at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., April 22, 2026. The candidates, composed of U.S. Soldiers and Marines, conducted a timed six-mile ruck march and received classroom instruction to prepare for rigorous evaluations in the days ahead. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
