Service members assigned to Joint Task Force–Southern Border participate in Air Assault day one training at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., April 21, 2026. The candidates, composed of U.S. Soldiers and Marines conducted rigorous physical exercise and began classroom training, which served to prepare them for the training in the days ahead. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
