U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Robert McDowell III, rear left, and Lance Cpl. Paul Debruin, both motor vehicle operators with Combat Logistics Battalion 24, Combat Logistics Regiment 27, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, secure equipment with chains in preparation for a long-range convoy during exercise Aurora as part of Sword 26 in Værnes, Norway, April 18, 2026. The Marines are preparing vehicles to ensure all equipment is mission-capable and safely configured for an upcoming movement across challenging Norwegian and Swedish terrain. U.S. Marines and Sailors with 2nd Marine Logistics Group are participating in Aurora as part of the larger Sword 26 series of linked multinational exercises. This participation directly supports NATO's Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative concept, validates defense plans, builds a unified lethal force, and strengthens deterrence. McDowell is a native of New Jersey. Debruin is a native of Iowa. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Brady Hathaway)
