A group of Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) civic leaders visited the University of Dayton Research Institute’s Integrated Technology Operations Center (UDRI/ITOC) near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, April 7, 2026, to learn about the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Rapid Sustainment Office (AFLCMC/RSO). The RSO’s deputy division chief Col. Todd Dawson explained the RSO’s mission and its role within the larger AFMC structure. During the visit the civic leaders, who had traveled from all over the country, learned about the collaborative work being done at the ITOC to bridge additive manufacturing to fielded capabilities. Brian Stitt, Director of UDRI’s Sustainment and Readiness Sector gave the civic leaders a tour of the relatively new facility so they could see first-hand the  work being done to advance the efforts in technologies such as metals and polymer additive manufacturing, incremental sheet metal forming, repair with additive manufacturing, field training, quality inspection, post operations up to 7-axis machining and manufacturing stop gaps. “It was an honor to host our AFMC Community Leaders at the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center’s Rapid Sustainment Office,” said AFLCMC’s deputy commander Col. Chadwick Steipp, who was escorting the group. “The visit highlighted the advancement of sustainment technologies while drawing connections with the AFMC mission in our Community Leader’s home states.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Jim Varhegyi)
