The T‑7A Redhawk social committee marked an early Earth Day with its first large‑scale cleanup event—and the impact was significant.
A total of 27 volunteers from across Wright-Patterson AFB came together April 9, 2026 to restore the installation’s recreation areas. In a single day, the team:
Cleaned 600+ acres of natural space
Removed 3,240 lbs of debris (106 large bags!)
Recovered 42 tires and several unexpected large items, including a floor safe, TVs, a mattress, and more
Volunteers represented organizations across the base, including AFLCMC's Training Directorate, the 88th CEG, WPAFB 5/6 Council, 445th Security Forces and 88th CS. The collaboration, turnout, and enthusiasm exceeded expectations.
The event was made possible through strong partnership with the 88th Civil Engineer Group’s Natural Resources Program Manager, who provided area guidance, historical context, and essential equipment support.
The effort not only improved the environment but also strengthened connections across the WPAFB community.
Earth Day is held annually on April 22.
