Within a week of U.S. and Philippine Engineers identifying this obstacle, the project to restore the collapsed culvert near Fort Magsaysay, Philippines received approval from local government officials and Philippine contractors began excavation work, April 6, 2026. This rapid response demonstrates the agility of the alliance and its commitment to improving local infrastructure while ensuring the success of combined military training prior to the start of Exercise Salaknib 2026. The enduring U.S.-Philippine Alliance reflects a shared commitment to ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific. (U.S. Army photo by Maj. Clint Lacure)
