SAN DIEGO (April 2, 2026) Evan Chinoy, a research physiologist for Naval Health Research Center (NHRC), showcases glasses with built-in blue LEDs used to help sailors, particularly those on submarines, adjust to minimal-natural light environments. Blue LED glasses emit blue wavelengths that mimics natural sunlight, promoting regulation of the body’s natural circadian rhythm, which boosts brain stimulation and alertness. NHRC, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, supports Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality with research and development that delivers high-value, high-impact solutions to the health and readiness challenges U.S. military population faces on the battlefield, at-sea, home and abroad.
